Rebecca Ortega, MHA
Director of Operations, DCRI Education
As Director of Operations for DCRI Education, Ortega is responsible for overseeing the operations, budgets, and overall management of our extensive portfolio of educational and practice improvement programs.
Prior to joining the DCRI, Ortega was the Director of Education at the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) in Washington, DC, and the Director of the SCAI Women in Innovations Initiative (WIN). During her tenure at SCAI, she led the Society’s professional education, planning, and evaluation activities. In 2012, she led the Society’s reaccreditation with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), which earned SCAI the “Accreditation with Commendation” designation, an achievement earned by fewer than 18% of all CME providers. Her years of work with SCAI WIN, SCAI’s international women’s initiative, earned SCAI the WomenHeart Wenger Award, honoring a professional organization that advances science related to the early and accurate diagnosis and treatment of women with heart disease.
Before joining SCAI, Ortega was a strategic planning analyst at the George Washington University Medical Center. She earned a master’s degree in health systems administration from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and a bachelor of arts degree from Davidson College in Davidson, NC.
