Melissa M. Campbell, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, at Duke University Medical Center. She is also a hospital epidemiologist and associate medical director for pediatric infection prevention. She focuses her research on hospital-associated infections, specifically viral respiratory infections, and surgical site infections. She is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and helping students develop the skills necessary for success in both academic and professional environments. Dr. Campbell is committed to creating a supportive and collaborative atmosphere during the summer research program to help students thrive. She has served as a mentor for the STAR Program since 2024.
