Monica Leyva, MS, is a core member of the Duke Implementation Science Collaborative and a Clinical Research Associate at the DCRI. With over 15 years of experience in clinical, research, and educational settings, Leyva excels in research design, qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, and leading multidisciplinary teams. She has a proven track record in site management, interventions, healthcare quality and process improvement, as well as managing regulatory and policy requirements. Leyva’s work has significantly impacted patient outcomes through her expertise in cardiac education, protocol implementation, and system-of-care integration. She has extensive therapeutic experience in cardiology and renal/metabolic areas, specializing in heart failure, hypertension, myocardial infarction, acute coronary syndromes, aortic stenosis, implantable devices, type 2 diabetes, clinical terminology, and clinical pharmacology. Leyva’s numerous publications in leading journals focus on cardiovascular and kidney disease risk reduction and improving guideline-directed medical therapy. She holds a master's in healthcare administration from Purdue Global.
