Green Named ADA President-Elect of Medicine & Science
Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) faculty member Jennifer Green, MD, has been named President‑Elect of Medicine & Science for the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
“It’s an honor and a privilege to begin my term as President-Elect of Medicine and Science,” Green said. “I am committed to advancing the ADA’s mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by this disease.”
Green, a member of the DCRI since 2008, is recognized for her influential work in diabetes research, including leading major clinical trials and contributing to national guidelines that shape how diabetes is managed across the country. Her presidency will begin in Jan. 2027.
Scales Elected as ROCKS President
DCRI faculty member Chuck Scales, MD, was elected as president of the Research on Calculus Kinetics (ROCK) Society on Feb. 1. Established in 1978, the society aims to further the investigation of calculi, also known as kidney stones, and develop a better understanding of the basic mechanisms involved. They achieve their mission through annual meetings where members can engage in open discussion and share ideas and information.
Scales, currently a member of the board of directors, will serve as president-elect for one year, beginning his term as president on Jan. 31, 2027.
Staff Members Begin Duke Leadership, Management Academies
The Duke Leadership Academy and the Duke Management Academy are yearlong programs designed to prepare the next generation of leaders at Duke University and Duke University Health System. The programs, which are part of the university’s Professional Development Academy, are led by Duke Leadership & Organization Development, a unit in Duke Human Resources. This year, three DCRI staff members are taking part in the programs.
