As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Amanda Derr is responsible for DCRI's financial strategy, planning, reporting, and compliance. With more than 30 years of management experience in finance for clinical research organizations, she provides the financial acumen to our leadership team to make informed, strategic decisions to ensure DCRI's long-term success while also serving as the organization's business liaison to the Duke School of Medicine.
Prior to joining the DCRI, Derr served as the Director of Outsourcing and Contracts at United Therapeutics (UT), responsible for leading a team charged with strategic outsourcing across all of UT's research and development programs. She also served as the Senior Vice President of Business Operations & CFO at Impact Pharmaceutical Services, where she developed and executed a three-year growth and ownership transition strategy and led the financial planning, general accounting, and external financial reporting operations. Derr is the former Vice President of Finance & Internal Services at Rho, Inc., where she led multiple functional units, including finance, HR, corporate communications, federal and commercial proposal development, and quality assurance.
Derr is a certified public accountant, chartered global management accountant, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of CPAs. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting from Guilford College, with minors in French and Mathematics.
